Electroencephalogram (EEG)

Electroencephalograms are essential for the diagnosis of epilepsies and treatment of seizures. Twenty-five digital EEGs are networked throughout the hospital. More than 20 long-term EEG/video monitoring units are available in our center. The recorded seizures are stored digitally for future use in the follow-up of the treatment and the clinical feature analysis.

Magnetoencephalography (MEG)

Magnetoencephalography measures and records change of magnetic fields associated with electrical activity in the brain. It is currently available in only a few places in Japan.

CT, MRI and SPECT are available to detect epileptogenic lesions and circulation/metabolic changes around the epileptogenic zone. PET is also accessible in a nearby hospital.

Other evaluations

Other tests include biochemical, metabolic, hormonal, immune, genetic investigations related to epilepsy as well as neuropsychological and neuropsychiatric evaluations.
